parade and bethlehem

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. For some reason everything on my computer turned to Hebrew, so it took me a little while to figure out how to turn it back.

Yesterday there was a parade around Jerusalem. Believers from nations all around the world come to Jerusalem this week to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. The parade was divided up between the nations, each walking and declaring their support and love for Israel and the Jewish people. It was amazing to have so many nations in one place.

The green tent is the biggest sukkah in town. It's in the courtyard of a Jewish synagogue. They had a band outside of it for the parade and lots of people gathered around celebrating.

Today we went to Bethlehem. We spent most of our time with a family that lives there. One of the guys is a muslim but has had 3 visions of Jesus and a dream last night that he killed a snake (signifying he will overcome satan). Hallelujah! Pray for him to accept Jesus as the son of God and savior.
Who has ascended into heaven or descended?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name and what is His Son's name, if you know?
Proverbs 30:4

We also went to the place where they think Jesus was born. It wasn't what I expected at all. A big gaudy church was planted on top, so you go through this church filled with marble, tons of chandaliers and decorations, down into a cave covered in marble and candles. It had a weird feeling, like people were worshipping the place, kissing the marble, etc. Jesus came to set us free. Since I've been here I've really grown to despise the spirit of religion. It just brings death and bondage. Jesus came to set us FREE. Free from the law, free from sin, free from trying to please people, free from routine, free from fear, fear from anxiety, free to love Him extravagantly, free to be lead by the Spirit.

The Shepherds Field was my favorite. This was where the wise men were when they saw the star and also where David kept his flock. We didn't get much time there, but it was a really beautiful place. I hope I get the chance to go back. I'd love to sit there and read the Psalms. They had a manger set up in a sheeps den that is apparently a more accurate depiction of what it would have been like. More than likely Jesus was born in a cave like this and not a stable. The sheep would have kept them warm.
